One project.
Your editor.

What each editor gets, what you need, and what we have tested.

Live

DaVinci Resolve

Carve into Resolve as an editable Fusion comp, without wiring nodes.

You get
A Fusion composition clip on your Resolve timeline, at the track and frame you choose. Video goes through the Media Pool. Audio is placed as its own audio clips, since Fusion cannot hold audio. A rendered-media method is also available.
You need
Resolve installed. Studio: Resolve → Preferences → System → General → External scripting using = Local. Free: Carvercat installs a small receiver script into Resolve when you press the button. A manual route also works: copy Fusion nodes and paste them into a Fusion clip.
Edit it again
A clip Carvercat made can be edited in place, edited as new, or deleted from Carvercat.
Tested
Built against Resolve 21. Studio checked on Windows. A full live check from a Mac is still pending, so expect rough edges there.
Good to know
Carvercat tells you plainly when a send cannot go through, for example Resolve not running, scripting off, project not saved or frame rates that do not match.

After Effects

Carve into After Effects as a real comp made of native layers.

You get
One comp (plus a precomp for each group or nested timeline) inside a project folder named Carvercat in your open project. Text, shapes, footage, audio, precomps, adjustment layers, track mattes, blend modes, parenting and keyframes with matching ease handles come across as native After Effects items.
You need
After Effects installed, and “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network” turned on. Text uses the fonts installed on the computer running After Effects; a comp whose font is missing is refused with the reason. Nothing is installed into After Effects, and Carvercat never saves or creates your .aep.
Routes
Automatic, where Carvercat starts the send for you (a cold start can take a minute or more), or manual, where you run a script file yourself.
Approximate
Some things are rebuilt or approximate: colour animation and animated paths are baked per frame, and blur, shadow and glow are approximate. Effects Carvercat cannot map yet are listed in the report, not dropped silently.
Tested
After Effects 2026 on Windows 11. Not tested on Mac or on earlier versions.
Through After Effects

Premiere Pro

No direct send yet. Direct Premiere Pro send is planned.

Today
Choose Files in Deliver and export rendered media (ProRes 4444 with alpha on Mac) and import it. Or carve to After Effects, save the project, then import that comp into Premiere or use Dynamic Link (needs After Effects). We have not tested that route.
Planned
A direct Premiere send is in development. We will not describe it as available until it ships.
Rendered media

Final Cut Pro and other editors.

Any editor that imports video or image sequences works with Carvercat.

Formats
Mac: H.264, HEVC, ProRes 422 and ProRes 4444 (MP4 or MOV; alpha needs ProRes 4444). Windows: H.264 in MP4 (no alpha). Image sequences: PNG, TIFF, EXR or DPX. Also stills, GIF and audio files.
Note
Rendered media keeps the finished look. The design controls stay in Carvercat.

Pick a target.
Send it.

Setup steps for each editor are in the manual.
